Tomos Trees Case Studies: managing tree overgrowth at a local factory site, October 2022
Service: Tree Removal and Hedge Trimming
Client: Commercial clients, St Davids Assemblies, St Davids, Pembrokeshire
The problem:
The grounds around this bustling fabrication factory had been planted with trees and hedges, but there had been little maintenance since then. Roadside ash trees around the perimeter of the site were dangerous and encroaching on the highway nearby. The local council had issued a letter under Section 154 of the Highways Act 1980 requiring the removal or cutting back of trees, shrubs and hedges that obstruct or endanger highway users.
Our solution:
The offending roadside trees along the factory site were surveyed and dealt with quickly, and the work site was made safe with the arrangement by Tomos’ team of traffic lights on the adjoining road. The rest of the overgrown hedges around the site were reduced to a much more manageable size to make regular maintenance a lot easier and allow more light into the factory building. In line with the team’s policy of minimising disruption to the site and the local environs, the work was scheduled to coincide with less busy days at the factory to minimise disruption to the staff, the site entrance, and the busy road running beside the city of St Davids.
Other benefits of our work:
The woodchip we produced was used to mulch a local garden and the firewood was left for the factory staff to take home to help keep warm!
Why Tomos Tree Services was right for the job:
Unfortunately, the wording of letters from the council can be quite scary to landowners. Fortunately, the team at Tomos Tree Services were able to reassure the clients at St Davids Assemblies that this was a job that could be dealt with quickly, efficiently, and to the standards that the council expected of the job. Our team’s experience in dealing with government departments, as well as corporate clients, means that we are adept at finding the right solution no matter what the requirements.
